Quarantine Episode #8 Actor Ethan Embry "Twitter in the time of Coronas"
Description
In these quarantine editions we are talking to interesting people, friends and family all over the globe about their self isolation experiences. This episode's guest, Ethan Embry, we met last year, when he was our seemingly un-likely neighbor living the #vanlife in the same park where we practice our own #RV life. After a (perhaps wrongly perceived?) embarrassing meeting last year we all became friends and our dogs became buddies. We celebrated his families returning for this new season of work. However, that celebration turned into a farewell when they quickly circled back to their home in Atlanta to wait out the Covids. We are excited to see him over the Internets and talk about the twitter, his career and his current life during the surreal time of the coronas.
At the beginning of this episode we joke that Ethan Embry is in everything, in all the things. In reality, well...he basically is and is a part of film history. A fixture in the 90's he starred in movies like That Thing You Do, Empire Records, White Squall, Can't Hardly Wait and even was Rusty in National Lampoons Vegas Vacation. Since then he's been in so many movies and TV shows that his IMDB list looks like a Netflix binge watching dream list. From Sweet Home Alabama, to two different iterations of the Twilight Zone (including the newest version by Jordan Peele) and a dream guest star role in Walking Dead, where he tries to kill Rick and ends up being eaten by a zombie for his troubles. For the past 6 seasons (and 1/2 - still filming season 7) he has co-starred on Netflix's longest running show Grace & Frankie as recovering addict Coyote - the son of Lilly Tomlin's Frankie. So yeah, he is basically in all the things.
One of the things we talk about during the show is the upcoming reunion watch party for That Thing You Do which live streaming on April 17th-This Friday at 4pm Pacific/ 7pm East Coast - you can watch along with your own copy of the film and their YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/thewonderslive - you can also follow Ethan on Twitter - and benefit from his rapid Covid research for yourself here: https://twitter.com/EmbryEthan
*On a personal note, the "she" of the He & She Show (Teresa) was a teenager in the 90's, is the same age as Ethan - and several of the movies that defined her coming of age years were films that Ethan starred in. She didn't talk too much about these movies, as she was worried she would "fan girl out" and envelop this episode in awkwardness. We also discuss the perceived embarrassing moment that defined their meeting for her - so there was already enough awkwardness to start with.
